V'samachta b'chagecha - "You shall rejoice in your festival" (D'varim 16:14)
Our community celebrates these ancient and modern festivals and commemorations (each beginning at sundown on the evening before the date shown):
- Rosh Hashanah - 26 September 2022
- Yom Kippur - 5 October 2022
- Sukkot - 10 October 2022 (seven days)
- Shemini Atzeret & Simchat Torah - 17 October 2022
- Chanukah (1st candle) - 18 December 2022
Contact our office or see our e-newsletter for information about special NSTE programs and events organised for each festival/commemoration.
We also honour special days in the Jewish calendar, such as Rosh Chodesh (the new month) and special Shabbatot, through the traditional additions and adaptations to our liturgy and Torah readings. In addition, each year we hold a special commemoration ceremony following the Shabbat service closest to ANZAC Day.
