4:00 PM - 7:00 PMNSTE - VJ HallBurnt by the Sun
We are happy to welcome you back to our in-person Boomers Film Group screening, to be followed by an informal, free-flowing discussion and light refreshments.
The movie, set in the final days of peace before World War II, takes place at the idyllic country home of Kotov, who lives there with his pretty young wife Maroussia and their daughter, Nadia. All is sunshine and joy, although there are certain omens of impending troubleā¦..
The film won the Academy Award for Best Foreign language film in 1994. The audience will no doubt be comparing the atmosphere of the Soviet Union in the 1930s Stalinist era with events currently unfolding in Russia and Ukraine.
Please note the earlier starting time of 4pm!

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which our synagogue stands, the land of the Gamaragal people. Many of us and our forebears have come from other lands and found our spirit of kinship with Indigenous Australians whose connection with this land preceded ours, and we recognise that connection as sacred and enduring. May we walk together toward a future of justice and healing.
