5:30 PM - 6:30 PMPlease join us for our final fun discussion of 2020 of the engaging film "Quartet".
Synopsis:
A group of retired musicians is living out their twilight years at Beecham House, a home for elderly musicians. Several of the group used to be in a quartet. Every year, the inhabitants of the house come together for an annual concert to celebrate the birth date of Verdi. The plans this year though are disrupted by the arrival of the character Jean (played by Dame Maggie Smith), a once revered singer, who used to be married to one of the other residents. Jean doesn't sing any more, and as tensions rise, it looks like this band ain't gonna get back together....which could be disastrous for the fund raising efforts for Beecham House.
Quartet is a gently charming comedy, targeted at an older audience, and stars many great actors including Tom Courtenay, Billy Connolly and Michael Gambon.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which our synagogue stands, the land of the Gamaragal people. Many of us and our forebears have come from other lands and found our spirit of kinship with Indigenous Australians whose connection with this land preceded ours, and we recognise that connection as sacred and enduring. May we walk together toward a future of justice and healing.
