JSA Uluru Statement Webinar 2021

Sunday, 30 May, 2021 19 Sivan 5781

5:00 PM - 6:30 PM

Jews for Social Action is organising another I Speak My Mind online event, our 14th “The Aboriginal Experience”, on the important topic of the Uluru Statement from the Heart – Where are we now? Where to from here?

The guest speaker is Thomas Mayor, a Torres Strait Islander man born and living on Larrakia country (Darwin).  Thomas was a delegate to the Uluru Convention and, subsequently, toured Australia talking about the significance of the Uluru Statement to metropolitan and regional areas. Thomas was our guest speaker in 2020.  This year he will again talk about the Uluru Statement and provide an update on what has happened in the last year in the political arena and regarding public awareness of the Statement.

Thomas will be in conversation with Damien Freeman who is a writer, lawyer and philosopher.  Together with Julian Leeser MP, Damien founded Uphold & Recognise, a non-profit organisation committed to both upholding the Australian Constitution and recognising Indigenous Australians in the Constitution.
