Mishloah Manot (gift parcels) are prepared and hand delivered by
volunteers to all members of the congregation and nominated relatives and
friends living in the Sydney metropolitan area. Members are invited to
sponsor such parcels.
Services are held on Erev Pesach, first day, last night and last
day of Pesach. Yizkor is recited on the last day of Pesach.
On the second night of Pesach we hold a communal Seder to which all the community, especially overseas or
interstate guests, is especially invited.

On Erev Shavuot we welcome the festival with a thoughtful period of
meditation. The highlight is our Tikkun Leil Shavu'ot, a concentrated
education program following the evening service. Perfect for adults,
b’mitzvah students and post b’mitzvah aged youth.
During our Shavuot morning service, the Book of Ruth is read and our Year
7 class re-enacts the biblical Bikkurim ceremony (First Fruits).

Shavuot for kids
Our Selichot Service is preceded by thought a provoking activity,
entertainment or study program session and climaxes with the service and
sounding of the Shofar.
Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur

NSTE offers to our members and guests exceptionally gracious, dignified
and meaningful services for each of the High Holy Days. The music
presented is superb, the sermons thoughtful and the environment conducive
to meaningful reflection. The sounding of the Shofar on Rosh Hashanah and
the Havdalah service ending Yom Kippur are a must!!
Seats are not assigned for the High Holy Days but in these difficult times
of increased security, tickets are essential for entry. Overseas or
interstate visitors are welcome and tickets can be arranged for them on a
casual basis. Machzorim are not available to borrow on the High Holy Days
but can be purchased at any other time. Read the relevant issue of or call
the Temple office for details of times, when tickets are sent, what
arrangements are in place for children/family involvement etc.
During Sukkot, we hold classes and share meals under our Sukkah, in
a wonderful, warm festive atmosphere. Our members are encouraged to build
their own Sukkah. A sukkah building competition is held each year.
Simchat Torah/Shemini Atzeret
Chanukah
Look for NSTE on Chatswood pedestrian mall each year when we light candles
on our giant Chanukiah each fine evening.
Kristallnacht, Yom Ha’Shoah, Yom Ha’Atzma’ut, Yom Hashoah are all observed
appropriately.
