Looking for something to do on Shabbat morning before the service begins?

From 9:00 to 10:00, Simon Holloway facilitates an informal class on the second division of Tanakh: the "Book of Prophets". No prior experience with the text is required, and all are welcome to come and learn. We are now commencing the book of Ezekiel, the third and most colourful of the books of prophecy. Participants are encouraged to look at chapter 1, which can be found here. (To see the verse numbers, click on the box that says "Omit verse numbers" at the top of the page.)

There is a lot about this chapter that might be of interest, but some things that you may wish to consider are:

1. Based on the introduction, who is Ezekiel and when did he live?

2. Are the different elements of Ezekiel's vision symbolic of anything?

3. Did Ezekiel actually see God? If not, what did he see instead?
