Chavurah @NSTE
Chavurah simply means friendship or fellowship. A chavurah is a small group of like-minded NSTE members and others who come together for social activities, to share Shabbat and Jewish holidays, and for Jewish learning. By meeting regularly in small groups, members develop a greater sense of connectedness to the congregation and personalise their Jewish experience.
The chavurah program is designed to bring together people with similar interests who might otherwise not have an opportunity to meet. It is chance for families to get to know each other outside the synagogue, while strengthening relationships with it. When chavurah members come to the synagogue they have a greater sense of belonging, as part of an “extended family”.
A number of groups are developing and they include a 'study group', one interested in Jewish politics and others interested in family and comunity activities.
